  1. I love coming up with character names, my favourite from the Top Ten is Cassia from Matched.

  2. Fun fact which may or may not be true — Aslan is “lion” in Turkish.

Books give us some truly fantastic names. I have a lot of fun when I have to give my middle name for official documentation or whatever, because my lovely mother decided to make my middle name “Lothlorien”. It’s a great way of judging how nerdy someone is — half of the people will immediately start to flip out over the Lord of the Rings reference, while the other half will scratch their heads and stare at me in bemusement while I try to explain where the name is from πŸ™‚

    • I knew someone with the first name of Blaze. Not Blaise, but Blaze. Apparently it made it hard for him to get a job as people thought it wasn’t his real name and didn’t take him seriously.

      • Blaze is an amazing name, but I could see how it might get him in trouble. Same with any crazy sounding name. That’s why I’m glad my parents confined their love of LOTR to my middle name, and not my first. Imagine walking around introducing yourself as like Arwyn or Galadriel or something. Yeesh.

  3. What a great list of names! Katniss comes on top for me, just because I connect with her through the series. (:
