Born and raised in the foothills of Colorado, Shannon’s writing is strongly influenced by nature and a nostalgia for the American West. She is interested in exploring and telling the stories of humans in all their messy glory. She believes we are all here having an intensely human experience, and that means getting through life any way we can. You won’t find classic heroes in her work. You’ll find deeply flawed, broken, and complicated people who, despite their best efforts, find themselves in the hero role.

Her short stories have appeared in DreamForge Anvil, Air & Nothingness Press, and Third Flatiron among others. She also has a short story in the Monsters, Movies, & Mayhem Anthology, alongside Johnathan Maberry, Rick Wilber, and Hailey Piper. Edited by Kevin J. Anderson, it won the 2021 Colorado Book Award for Best Anthology.

Shannon is the owner of Minute Marketing, a marketing company based in San Diego, CA, that helps Realtors and other housing industry professionals save time with their marketing. You can check out more about her company here.

Shannon is also a competitive dressage rider and owns two wonderful horses. A USDF Silver and Bronze Medalist, Shannon has competed in the FEI (international) levels, through Intermediare I. She finds dancing with horses significantly easier than dancing on her own two feet. She lives in San Diego, CA, with her husband and three cats – one of whom may or may not be a demon in disguise. She is on a quest to travel to one new place every year.
