Lavender Footsteps

Lavender Footsteps: An Echoes of a Forgotten World Story by Mike Wyant Jr.

My life started the day Kammy found me half dead in a ditch filled with acid rain. In turn, I helped her raise Em, her daughter, in the wasteland that was once the state known as New York.

I was happy. We were happy.

Then our field sensors started going missing and game grew scarce.

That’s when I found out you can’t leave your past behind.

It always follows you, even if you don’t remember it.

Let’s face it–reading a book can be a commitment! So over the next couple of months, I’ll be highlighting great short stories and novellas that are quick yet still satisfying to read.

Lavender Footsteps is a short, unputdownable post-apocalyptic story from a talented voice in science fiction. While the story contains robots, it’s much more reminiscent of The Road than it is Star Wars or Bicentennial Man. There are several exciting twists that I don’t want to give away, but this story has it all: found family, survival, action, and themes of identity. A gripping story with strong imagery and populated with real characters fighting to survive while weathering deep loss, this is a great read you can easily pick up and digest in one sitting!
