I realized I haven’t posted about my novel, or much of my writing work recently. It’s the usual complaints of work, work, too much work, life, life, too much life. Every writer’s nemesis.

This past weekend, I just completed my third draft revision of my novel. It’s definitely getting closer and the last hundred or so pages leave me breathless, exhilarated, and happy when I walk away. I hope my future readers will feel that way, too.

It’s the beginning I need to focus a little more on. Recently, I got some great advice about another piece of my work that I think applies to this one. So much of the first part of novel feels secretly expository. By “secret” I mean it doesn’t quite feel like an info dump, but if you really look at it, it is. Working to even that out.

I think beginning are always hard, especially when you prefer to just write and loosely plan as you go. The beginning doesn’t know what the ending looks like the first time you write it.

I’ve got a few more submissions of short stories and poetry out and a few more exciting opportunities coming up that I really need to work out the details for. Can’t wait until I can finally share it with you all!

In the meantime, I’m sharing one of the songs on my playlist I’ve built for this novel. Enjoy!
